As IT systems have grown exponentially, companies have been left to handle increasingly complex software architectures.

More than ever before, IT departments need to respond quickly to new business requirements, continuously reduce the cost of IT to the business, be agile and flexible, and seamlessly onboard and integrate new business partners and customers. Meanwhile, traditional architectures have reached the limit of their capabilities. So, new solutions should be able to leverage the capability of existing architecture and build on it.

Leverage existing IT investments

The solution is not to "rip and replace" systems or applications, nor to completely renovate them, but rather to find a way to "leave and layer" to maximize existing IT investments. SOA Integration helps to accomplish these goals by making systems open and more responsive to business needs, simpler to develop, and easier to maintain and manage. Implementing a solution architecture based upon service orientation helps organizations plan ahead for change, rather than responding reactively.

Reusable services

Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) is an architectural style to reuse and integrate existing systems for designing new applications. The goal of SOA Integration is to expose an organization's computing assets as reusable services that can communicate and integrate more readily. This can eliminate the "integration spaghetti" that exists in most companies today.

From the beginning, Cordys has always perceived Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) based Integration and BPM as key technology domains to cover. We have taken a pretty fundamental approach. The Cordys platform not only provides SOA Integration to support the next generation BPM but the whole platform itself is built on a Service Oriented Architecture. All components and modules in the Cordys platform, both for design and execution are implemented as services and are hosted and managed on the Cordys Smart Services Grid.
