Cordys BPM/SOA-software to achieve efficient, process-oriented and more coherent business operations at the Ministry of Defence
Putten, The Netherlands, October 20, 2011 – Cordys, a leading provider of software for business process innovation, today announced that the Netherlands Ministry of Defence has selected Cordys as its new business process management (BPM) and SOA provider. The choice of the Cordys Business Operations Platform follows a comprehensive European tender process.
The Netherlands Ministry of Defence comprises the Central Staff, the Royal Netherlands Navy, the Royal Netherlands Army, the Royal Netherlands Air Force, the Royal Netherlands Marechaussee, the Support Command and the Defence Materiel Organisation. The Minister is leading the Ministry of Defence. The Defence organisation bears similarities to a large company. The Operational Commands (naval, land and air forces), the Marechaussee (military police), the Support Command (CDC) and the Defence Materiel Organisations bear resemblance to operating companies. The ministry is one of the largest employers in the Netherlands.
In order to manage all its operating processes, the Ministry of Defence uses various IT solutions. These solutions consist of over 3000 applications, which support the operations within the ministry. In order to be able to respond more quickly to changing needs of the various elements of the armed forces and end users, there is a need for a greater degree of flexibility in the IT domain and a reduction in the costs associated with implementing changes to processes.
The Netherlands Ministry of Defence will be using the Cordys Business Operations Platform to streamline and improve a large number of operational processes including the domains of operations, HRM, materials/logistics and finance.
Adriaan Blankenstein, Commander of the IVENT Section at the Netherlands Ministry of Defence: “Rather than a diversity of solutions, we want uniformity. With Cordys, we can orchestrate all the solutions and processes we need in one single platform. The Cordys software is very well suited to integrate existing applications, build new applications and restructure existing ones. In this way, simplicity and manageability are guaranteed and we are able to manage, monitor and optimise our business processes."
"We are very pleased that our Business Operations Platform has been selected by the Ministry of Defence as its BPM/SOA solution", says Jan Baan, Chairman & Chief Innovation Officer at Cordys. “Cordys BPM and integration software enables organizations to master complexity and it delivers simplicity. It enables them to become more efficient and flexible. With Cordys, organisations like the Netherlands Ministry of Defence can make better use of their existing IT systems or replace them and automate the processes which are essential to improve their business operations. Cordys enables them to adapt these processes to rapidly changing needs."
